For more than 100 years our agency has cared for children and this has only been possible with the help of voluntary contributions.  Every contribution makes a difference to a child's life.  We have described below some of the many ways in which our supporters have helped us to help children.  Could you help us too?  Please click to find out more.  If you would like any further information, or have any fundraising suggestions, please do contact us.

Support our triathlon teams

We are pleased to have had some more CCS supporters join our informal Triathlon Group, but we would welcome lots more !

You’re no doubt aware that it is especially difficult to raise funds in these challenging times, and CCS would really value your help in raising funds to continue their work.

We have now also set up CCS Young Triathletes for 8 to 16 year olds.  There is lots more info at http://www.ccstriathletes.org.uk/ccsyoungtriathletes.html

The event will be great fun, and if you, friends or family would like to take part and raise funds, you’d be very welcome !

To get involved, please contact Andy: try his mobile 07971 544709 or e-mail: andy.white@ccsadoption.org

For more info, please see www.ccstriathletes.org.uk

For Adults: what do you need to do?

Pick an event, and decide on doing the whole thing or forming a relay team with friends/family/colleagues.  Then get in touch with coordinator Andy White and we’ll help get you prepared, trained, kitted out and entered, and we’ll support you on the day.

Oh, and most importantly get sponsored!

It’s fairly straightforward and we’ll help every way we can.

If you’re up for one part of the event and need team-mates, let us know.

Events:

4th October the Warwickshire Triathlon (details to be confirmed)

This includes the shorter, non-relay super-sprint event.

Everyone who has taken part in the triathlons have found it a rewarding personal achievement, as well as contributing to an important cause.

The emphasis is on fun, first-timers are very welcome, and remember you can do the event as a relay team with friends/family/colleagues.

Standing orders

Our work is greatly assisted by the stability of regular income which allows us to budget effectively and plan for the future with a greater degree of confidence.  Could you consider setting up a standing order to support our work?  It doesn't have to be a large sum - anything you can afford will help us to continue our work building brighter futures for children.  Please click here for a bankers order form to print out and send to us.

200 Club

Joining our 200 Club gives you the chance of winning a cash prize, for a £1 a month donation.

Details of the 200 Club in brief:

Each membership costs £12.00 per year.  You will be allocated a number which is entered in the draws.

There are six draws per year:  January, March, May, September and November when prizes are £25, £15 and £10 AND December when prizes are £200 and £100!

You can, of course, have more than one number – there are plenty available!!

If you would like to take this opportunity to support CCS, you will need to complete a standing order form.  Click here for a PDF version which will print on almost all systems and click here for an Excel version for which you will need EXCEL installed on your PC.

Please e-mail or contact us for more information.

Consider leaving a lasting gift in your Will

Remembering us in your Will is a wonderful way of investing in a brighter future for thousands of children.  You can read about one recent benefactor who has helped us in this way by clicking here.

The Law Society says that two in every three people in the UK die without making a Will.

This means that an administrator must be appointed to divide the Estate according to statutory rules, without regard to the wishes of the deceased or their family. This can significantly delay the distribution of the Estate at a time when the family most need things to be done without difficulty; and the process costs much more than making a Will would have done.

A Will simply appoints and empowers people of your choice to distribute your money and possessions according to your wishes.

We encourage you to consult a solicitor to make or update your Will in order to ensure that it is not open to confusion or challenge. Your solicitor may also show you how to reduce paying Inheritance Tax on the value of your Estate above the tax-free allowance.

You should consider updating your Will with a Codicil if new children are born into your family; if any of your beneficiaries die; if your assets are significantly increased or decreased; or if you wish to add another beneficiary to your Will, such as a Charity. Please note that it is essential to make an entirely new Will if you marry or remarry, as the previous one will be invalidated.

Reduce your Estate's Liability to Inheritance Tax

By remembering the Clifton Children's Society (a UK registered charity) in your Will, you can reduce your Estate's liability to Inheritance Tax, currently payable at 40% of the balance of your Estate over the nil-band (currently £300,000).
If you have already made your Will, it can be simply updated.

Some suggested wording that may help you:

For a pecuniary legacy (leaves a specific sum).

I give to CCS Adoption (Clifton Children's Society) of 162 Pennywell Road, Easton Bristol, BS5 0TX, the sum of £XXXXX free of duty, such sum to be applied to the general purposes of the Charity, and I direct that a receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer for the time being of the Charity shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors.

For a residuary legacy (leaves the balance of your Estate after your other legacies have been honoured).

I give and bequeath all the residue of my estate OR one [fraction] share of the residue of my estate absolutely to CCS Adoption (Clifton Children’s Society) of 162 Pennywell Road, Easton Bristol, BS5 0TX, such sum to be applied to the general purposes of the Charity and I direct that a receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer for the time being of the Charity shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors.

If you would like further information on how to make a bequest to the agency in your will, please e-mail  or contact us

Volunteer Handyman/Gardener

We sometimes need a helping hand with small repairs and maintenance work in our office at Easton.

If you are a good "DIY-er" and could pop in from time to time to help us, we would love to hear from you.

Box Collectors

Could you join our team of box collectors and organise box collections in your parish or work place?

This involves distributing boxes for small change, and collecting money every six months, or yearly.  We will provide you with a "kit" including boxes, labels and receipt forms.
