Transition from Primary to Secondary School

The move from primary to secondary education can raise difficulties for any child but our adopted children may well experience more challenges and feel poorly equipped as they navigate their way around a maze of corridors, meet the expectations of staff, develop relationships with other pupils, and adjust to the pressures of a new style of learning. How can we best prepare our children for these challenges? Where can we find advice and support for adoptive parents, our children and school staff? How do parents build supportive relationships with staff so that we can work in tandem through this challenging time? This workshop will provide an opportunity for parents to discuss the issues and difficulties that adopted children can face during the transition from primary to secondary school and will offer some practical strategies to help address some of these.
