Therapeutic Parenting Approaches for Eating, Sleeping & Toileting in Adoption<\/strong><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

A brand NEW specialist therapeutic parenting programme for adoptive parents led by Clinical Psychologists Dr Helen Kirkaldie & Dr Victoria James-Perkins. This 4-week course will take place on Thursdays from the 16th<\/sup> of October to the 13th<\/sup> of November (break for English half term 30th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n

Objectives of the Programme<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\ud83e\udde0 Emotional Regulation & Attachment<\/p>\n

— Enhance your ability to co-regulate your child\u2019s emotional states during toileting, mealtimes, and bedtime routines.<\/p>\n

— Strengthen your parent-child attachment bond by using therapeutic parenting strategies that foster felt safety and trust.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udecf\ufe0f Routine & Predictability<\/p>\n

— Develop consistent, nurturing routines\u00a0around eating, sleeping, and toileting to reduce anxiety and oppositional behaviours.<\/p>\n

— Empower you to use structure and attunement to help children feel safe and in control.<\/p>\n

\ud83e\uddc3 Sensory Integration & Body Awareness<\/p>\n

— Help you understand sensory processing difficulties that may underlie toileting, eating, or sleep issues.<\/p>\n

— Introduce sensory strategies\u00a0(e.g. sensory diets, calming techniques) to support regulation and body awareness.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udde3\ufe0f Psychoeducation & Reflective Parenting<\/p>\n

— Educate you on the impact of early trauma on bodily functions and self-care behaviours.<\/p>\n

— Foster reflective parenting by helping you explore emotional responses and triggers.<\/p>\n

\ud83e\udde9 Behavioural Understanding & Reframing<\/p>\n

— Support you to reframe \u2018challenging behaviours\u2019\u00a0(e.g. food refusal, bedwetting) as communication of unmet needs.<\/p>\n

— Equip you with therapeutic responses that reduce shame and promote connection.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc65 Peer Support & Shared Learning<\/p>\n

— Create a safe space for you to share experiences, reduce isolation, and build confidence through mutual support.<\/p>\n

— Model and practice therapeutic parenting techniques\u00a0in a group setting.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Booking<\/strong><\/h5>\n

— Open to all adoptive parents from CCS Adoption<\/a><\/span>, Adoption West and any other agency.<\/p>\n

— Please return this Reservation Form<\/a><\/span> to therapeuticservices@ccsadoption.org<\/u><\/a>. Once this form has been received, an acknowledgement email will be sent to you, and you will be placed on our reservation list.<\/p>\n

— If you have marked on the reservation form that you wish to fund your place via the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF<\/a><\/span>), we will take receipt of this form as your agreement for us to contact your Local Authority (LA) in order to request that they apply for funding from the ASGSF.<\/p>\n

— Once notification of ASGSF funding is received from the LA and confirmed to CCS Adoption, your place(s) on the course will be confirmed via email.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
