Create and Connect

Create and Connect

This regular group is a place for any adoptive parent to reconnect with their inner artist, and learn how to work together through group projects whilst having a chat with other adoptive parents. This is by no means solely for artists but everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun! Come and try it out and then sign up for a few sessions.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available during the evening.

Booking

The sessions are open to all adopters from CCS Adoption, Adoption West and other agencies. Spaces are limited to a maximum of 8 adults. To book please contact us at activities@ccsadoption.org.

Andy’s Create & Connect Art Club is the highlight of my week. In fact, it is the first regular me-time ever since we adopted our children 7 years ago. No matter how tired I feel, the thought of my art evening is cheering me up and I didn’t miss a single week. My children are happy to let me go because they can relate, they understand that doing art with friends is fun and they love when I bring home the evidence for them to look at the next day. Andy’s cheerful nature and ideas are inspiring and he is supporting whichever ideas we come up with. And if all this wasn’t enough, it’s just lovely to see other adopters every week, getting to know each other and chatting to people who “get it”. I always return home full of energy – even after a tricky day!

As an adopted mum of two, I have limited chance to interact with other adopted parents who truly understand the challenges of an adoptive family and so I find the art class hugely beneficial. I have been able to meet other mums that have been able to suggest and recommend some invaluable resources for our family including therapeutic offerings that I am sure I would never have found without the help of these mums. Being an adopted family has many daily challenges that can become overwhelming and the art class for me is a chance to escape for a few hours a week and to do something that completely takes your mind off your challenges and enables me to be creative and express myself without words. Thank you so much for this wonderful weekly class and I truly hope this is able to continue.

This event is free to attend, however, if you can, a donation would be much appreciated to cover the cost of art materials.
