Let’s Talk About Letterbox and Contact – Session 3
Who and how?
The third in a series of four informal sessions where we open up the thorny subject of Contact with birth families for adopted children and young people. Feel free to come to all or just those you fancy.
This session will be facilitated by Eve Payne the Sharing Stories Life Story Worker and Lindy Wootton the CCS Sharing Stories Manager. They will also be joined by at least one experienced adopter who will share their stories and experiences of contact. The session will be relatively informal with the chance to participate in the discussion, share and ask questions of those present. It will be an opportunity to hear how it can pay to think creatively about who your child might benefit from having contact with – apart from just the obvious immediate birth family – as well as the different types of contact arrangements that might be possible (direct, indirect, online). Adopters should also leave with a greater understanding of the purpose of post-adoption contact (relationships and identity building) and the key messages from the research evidence around post-adoption contact.

The session will be held online via Zoom. Please contact us at activities@ccsadoption.org for joining details.
