National Adoption Week 2025
This National Adoption Week (20–26 October), the You Can Adopt campaign aims to tackle the misconceptions around needing a ‘perfect’ home head-on, showing that children who need to be adopted don’t need perfection – they need a ‘welcome home’.
Before adopting, you may have concerns about what you could offer a child. This could include concerns about the size of your home or having too low an income. This year’s campaign focus is to dispel myths and reduce barriers to anyone considering adoption by highlighting real stories from adopted families.
“I used to think I had to wait for the perfect time, the perfect house, the perfect setup – but the truth is, love doesn’t wait. Alexander came into my life and filled it with colour, chaos, and more joy than I ever imagined. Whether we’re painting at the dining table or playing in Alexander’s miniature kitchen café, it’s the everyday moments that remind me we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.” – April, adoptive mother
Like all families, adoptive homes come in all shapes and sizes. You can welcome a child into the heart of your home – whether that’s your own or rented, big or small, or whether it’s just you, a partner, other children or your extended family.
