What’s Changing for Adoption Support in 2026?
In 2025, we interviewed adoptive parents, adult adoptees, professionals and our staff. We listened and reviewed our adoption support services to make sure they continue to meet families’ needs at different stages of adoption.
This review took place alongside significant national funding changes. In April 2025, the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) was reduced by 40%, meaning fewer funded therapy sessions and specialist assessments nationally.
While these changes are outside CCS Adoption’s control, they affect how support can be offered, so we needed to review how we work in a fair, clear and sustainable way.
Here at CCS, we want every family to get the help they need when they need it. That’s why we are launching a £10,000 Match Challenge to raise vital funds, and we will match every donation pound for pound (up to £10,000, thanks to a generous donor).
What families value
In 2025, CCS families said that they value us for:

Challenges and Current Pressures
Families described challenges including emotional well-being, behaviour linked to early trauma, identity questions and school pressures. These needs change over time and require timely, responsive support.
At the same time, services are under pressure due to reduced ASGSF and increased demand. Families have told us this can create uncertainty about what support is available, and we recognise the need to be clearer and more transparent.
What is changing at CCS Adoption?
In response to the review, we are:
— Introducing a clear triage system with a single point of contact to make access fairer and more consistent
— Improving information about support pathways
— Refreshing parenting programmes and exploring group and peer support
— Making better use of resources, including existing tools such as CATCH and online information
Adult adoptees are also contributing their lived experience to help shape training,
information and service development, particularly around identity and lifelong
impact.

What does this mean for you?
Our commitment is to work with families with care, honesty and transparency. While funding changes mean support cannot be unlimited, we are focused on helping families feel informed, supported and not alone, and on ensuring services remain sustainable for the future.
Help us be there for families
We’d love for you to get involved with our £10,000 Match Challenge! Your support will help us continue the services that keep families strong, connected, and hopeful.
