National Lottery Community Funding

We have some fantastic news to share! Our Adoption Support services have been awarded an amazing £20,000 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund!

This grant will support our range of programmes (often in collaboration with other charities) that provide adoptees or adoptive families with new skills; build up their confidence and self-esteem; enable them to meet other adopted young people who will have similar backgrounds and challenges to access community activities and have fun!

These activities include but are not limited to:

— HorseWorld Discovery Programme – an innovative six-week course that brings children together with gentle rescued horses. The programme is carefully designed and highly structured; focusing on outdoor activities with horses; boosting confidence; emotional well-being and transferrable skills.

— Holiday Hub – A range of activities for adopted children and young people during the Easter/Summer holidays; activities include paddle boarding; trips to the zoo; tree-top adventures and making time and space to play in nature.

Did you know?

CCS Adoption is funded by local authority fees to find families for children who need them, but matching a child (or children) with a family is only the start of a lifelong adoption journey.

All adopted children have experienced adverse childhood experiences; the impact of trauma can create lifelong issues including forming trusting relationships with adults; social skills and relationships with peers; executive functioning skills; speech and language difficulties; learning delays or difficulties; regulating their emotions; coping with transitions and change; sensory processing.

Some identified therapeutic interventions are funded by the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund but most of the support needed by an adoptive family or adoptee is not statutorily funded.
