New Family Social Allyship Award
We’re delighted to be able to share with you the news that Andrea M., an adoption social worker with CCS Adoption for the past 2 years has won a special Allyship Award from New Family Social, a charity supporting LGBTQ+ adopters and foster carers. The award has been made for her work guiding and supporting an LGBTQ+ couple through the adoption process and preparing them for life as an adoptive family and was announced at the end of the NFS Adoption Support week on Friday 24th September 2021.
NFS received over 100 nominations from their members across the country for agencies and social workers who have been making a positive difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ adopters which were then assessed by their panel of judges with three awards being made for social workers.
Andrea’s response to winning the award:
“I am hugely thankful to have been recognised in this way. It is a real privilege to do the work that I do and for families to allow me to be alongside them in such life-changing times. I continue to be in awe of the families I work with, their strength and resilience, in particular in the last 18 months and hope to continue to be part of their world for many years to come”.
The CEO of CCS Adoption commented:
“We are delighted that Andrea M’s work and approach to the adopters in her care has been recognised in such a positive way. It’s really important when the last 18 months have been so tough for everyone to be able to celebrate the good things that are still happening. Thank you to the CCS adopters who nominated her for taking the time to share their appreciation and many congratulations to Andrea M.”
